JetBlue Expands Fort Lauderdale Hub With New Cleveland Route and More Flights Across U.S. and Caribbean

JetBlue is expanding its presence in South Florida with a major boost to flights at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, adding a new destination and increasing service on several domestic and international routes beginning this summer.

The airline announced that daily service between Fort Lauderdale and Cleveland will launch on July 8, marking the newest addition to its growing network from the busy Florida hub. Alongside the new route, JetBlue will increase flight frequencies to several cities across the United States, giving travelers more options and flexibility when planning trips.

Starting July 8 and July 9, the airline will add additional daily flights to Atlanta, Newark, Jacksonville, Las Vegas and Philadelphia. With the changes, routes to Atlanta and Newark will each operate four flights per day, while Las Vegas and Philadelphia will have three daily flights. Jacksonville will offer two daily flights. Service to Norfolk will also expand with two additional weekly flights, bringing the route to daily service.

International travel from Fort Lauderdale will see improvements as well, particularly to Caribbean destinations. Flights to Aruba will increase with four more departures each week, raising service to once daily. Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic will gain an extra daily flight, doubling service to two per day. The route to St. Maarten will receive three additional weekly flights, bringing that destination to daily service from Fort Lauderdale.

JetBlue executives said the expansion reflects a broader strategy to strengthen the airline’s network in South Florida while responding to customer demand for more destinations and better connectivity.

The move comes as JetBlue continues advancing its long-term JetForward strategy, a plan aimed at improving profitability while expanding its route network and enhancing services for travelers. The company has projected the initiative could deliver between $850 million and $950 million in additional operating profit by 2027.

JetBlue has spent the past few years reshaping its strategy after a federal judge blocked its planned $3.8 billion merger with Spirit Airlines over antitrust concerns. Since then, the carrier has shifted toward partnerships and targeted network expansion.

One major step in that direction came last year when JetBlue and United Airlines launched a partnership allowing customers to book flights on either airline’s website and earn or redeem loyalty points across both carriers’ frequent flyer programs.

As part of that agreement, JetBlue will also provide United Airlines with access to valuable takeoff and landing slots at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport beginning in 2027, enabling United to operate up to seven daily round-trip flights from the congested airport.

With the latest expansion in Fort Lauderdale, JetBlue is positioning the airport as an increasingly important hub in its national and international network, offering travelers more routes, increased flight frequency and improved connections throughout the United States and the Caribbean.
