YouTube has introduced a new weekly top podcast chart, highlighting the most-watched shows in the United States. The chart ranks podcasts every Wednesday based on watch time and currently features popular titles such as The Joe Rogan Experience, Kill Tony, and Rotten Mango.
The move strengthens YouTube’s growing influence in the podcast space. The platform now delivers over one billion monthly active views for podcast content and has become the leading service for podcast listening, ahead of Spotify and Apple, according to recent research.
Podcast creators are taking advantage of YouTube’s wide reach and strong monetization system. Ben Meiselas, co-founder of The MeidasTouch Podcast, said YouTube offers the best value for advertisers, noting that the platform is more than just a place to upload episodes—it’s a channel in its own right. MeidasTouch has nearly five million subscribers and receives about 350 million views each month. The show is also distributed on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Substack, and Patreon.
As video podcasts gain popularity, platforms are competing to attract both creators and listeners. Spotify has invested heavily in the format, spending over $100 million on podcast content in the first quarter of 2025. It also supports video alongside audio. Even so, YouTube’s user base and payment system remain a major draw for creators.
