Wawa has announced a statewide shift in fuel payment procedures at its New Jersey locations, now requiring all customers to pay before pumping gas. The new policy, which took effect on June 2, applies to all forms of payment including cash, credit cards, debit cards, and gift cards.
Under the revised system, customers must make payment directly to the fuel attendant prior to receiving fuel. Wawa officials stated the change aims to improve both security and efficiency at the pump, benefiting customers and employees alike. The policy is already standard practice in Wawa’s other regional markets and is now being extended to New Jersey to ensure uniformity in operations.
The company emphasized that customers using the Wawa App can continue to process fuel transactions in the same manner as before. By introducing this prepayment requirement, Wawa is looking to streamline the fueling process and reduce potential transaction issues, while also supporting a more secure environment for fuel attendants and customers across its network.
