In a major win for thousands of Kollel families and Rabeim, Kupas Yom Tov — a grassroots initiative that has quietly supported families for over a decade — will finally have a permanent home, thanks to a $1 million allocation in the New Jersey Fiscal Year 2026 state budget secured by Assemblyman Avi Schnall.
The funding will enable Kupas Yom Tov to finally begin the process of building or acquiring a dedicated warehouse, a long-awaited logistical hub that
will dramatically expand the organization’s reach and efficiency.
Founded 12 years ago by a group of yungerleit l’zecher nishmas R’ Shlomo Zalman Rosengarten z”l and hayeled Eli Raitzik a”h, Kupas Yom Tov began as a quiet effort to assist fellow Kollel Yungerleit before each Yom Tov. As demand grew, the group began offering discounted essentials — all without fanfare or advertising.
Since then, the organization, operating under Igud Bnei Torah, has helped close to 10,000 families prepare for Yom Tov with dignity, offering millions of dollars worth of essentials before Yomim Tovim and throughout the year. Despite a lack of formal infrastructure, the organization has managed to pull off massive operations, often relying on borrowed or makeshift spaces to conduct their sales and events.
The new warehouse will not only streamline distribution and cut costs, but also allow Igud Bnei Torah to expand its offerings — including many new and exciting plans they’ve not been able to get to duento lack of proper infrastructure.
In reaching out to those Yungerleit who help run these organization’s, they expressed their tremendous appreciation to this grant.
“This warehouse is not just a logistical upgrade — it’s a game-changer, for years, we’ve been operating under intense pressure, borrowing space and coordinating massive operations without a real infrastructure,” they said. “This funding allows us to do what we’ve been doing with far greater efficiency, dignity, and reach. It’s a tremendous step forward for the families we serve. Our goal has always been to give kavod to those who live with mesiras nefesh. This warehouse will finally give us the tools to do that properly — to make sure every yungerman and every rebbe can walk into Yom Tov with kavod and without stress.”
Assemblyman Schnall praised Igud Bnei Torah and the Kupas Yom Tov initiative, expressing pride in delivering funding for such a vital cause.
“These are the people who carry the future of our community. Helping them prepare for Yom Tov with peace of mind is an investment in the values we hold most dear,” Schnall said.
