FTC And 20 States Sue Dollar General Over Checkout Prices

The Federal Trade Commission and 20 states, including New Jersey, filed a lawsuit Monday accusing Dollar General of charging shoppers more at the register than the prices on shelves and in ads. The suit, filed in federal court in Tennessee, alleges thousands of stores overcharged customers by millions of dollars and that the company lacked adequate safeguards despite tens of thousands of complaints. Dollar General operates about 21,000 stores.
