Lakewood Officers Honored with 2025 Valor Award for Heroic Rescue in House Fire

Two Lakewood police officers have been awarded the 2025 Valor Award for their lifesaving actions during a structure fire last year in Ocean County. Officers Michael Sheehan and Julian Guzman were recognized for their bravery and decisive action during a May 4, 2024 emergency that unfolded at 419 Joe Parker Road.

Upon arriving at the scene, Officers Sheehan and Guzman encountered a fully involved house fire with reports of a person trapped inside. Without hesitation, they entered the burning structure and located an unconscious victim, identified as Galindo Sanchez. Risking their own safety, the officers carried Sanchez out of the building, ensuring he received urgent medical attention.

Their courage and quick response earned them high praise from the local community and public safety officials. The 2025 Valor Award, presented by the 200 Club of Ocean County, acknowledges law enforcement officers who go above and beyond in the line of duty. Officers Sheehan and Guzman exemplify the highest standards of service and heroism, and their actions continue to reflect the strength and dedication of the Lakewood Police Department.
