The beta connects bank and card accounts through Plaid to explain spending, balances and fees, but cannot move or invest money.

Anthropic is rolling out a Personal Finance feature in Claude that lets U.S. users connect bank and credit-card accounts and ask questions about their money.

The beta is starting this week for subscribers to Claude's Pro, Max and Ultra plans. Account connections run through Plaid, with users signing in to their banks and choosing which accounts to share.

Access is read-only. Claude can examine balances and transactions, but the feature cannot move, manage or invest money. It is not designed to provide investment advice.

Users can ask Claude to sort spending by category, compare it with previous months, explain interest charges or spot unexpected fees. The feature can also build charts and bill calendars from connected account data.

For accounts a user connects, Claude can see balances, credit limits, account names and types, the last four account digits and up to two years of transactions. Anthropic says Claude does not receive the user's bank password.

Conversations inside the Personal Finance hub are not used to train Anthropic's models. Users can unlink accounts at any time. Anthropic cautions that Claude can make mistakes and that important figures should be checked with the bank.
